German Weather Vocabulary: Rain, Thunderstorms & Storm Phrases (A2–B2)
In this video I focus on German weather vocabulary, especially for rainy and stormy days. You’ll hear and see words like Regen (rain), Gewitter (thunderstorm), Donner (thunder), Blitz (lightning) and Hagel (hail), plus useful phrases you can actually use in small talk, while travelling or checking the forecast.
I show you how to say simple but important sentences such as Es regnet, Es gewittert, Es stürmt and how expressions like Es blitzt und donnert work in real contexts. We also look at a few more intense weather words for heavy rain and storms, so that you can describe anything from light showers to full-on extreme weather in German.
Along the way, I point out typical question patterns like Wie wird das Wetter morgen? and Wie ist das Wetter heute?, and explain how Germans actually talk about the weather in everyday life. You get both single words (Regen, Gewitter, Hagel) and ready-made chunks you can reuse immediately in conversations.
