Offensive Web Application Penetration Testing: XSS, Port Scan and XSS Validator | Hacker Associate

Advanced Port Scanning using ZAP Proxy
Post Scanning play a major role in penetration testing and we have already discussed in
Hacking phases.

Hacking phases follow as:

Information Gathering

Vulnerability Assessment

Payload

Exploit

Information Gathering:
We are collecting information about Remote target ( IP , OS, Ports , Services running,
Firewall etc.)
Using ZAP, we can easily identify open ports and services running on Server.
Port Scanning technique is used by Security Engineer, Penetration Tester to audit server or
nodes for vulnerability.

Port Scan technique is used to discover exploitable communication channel and send client
request to range(1-65535) of server port addresses on a host and find out open ports.
Nmap/Zenmap is popular tool for Port Scanning and already inbuilt in Kali Linux 2020 or
later version.

There are many open source tools are available for Port Scanning but you don’t need to
download all tool in your system, ZAP alone can execute any task like Scanning,
Vulnerability Assessment, Payload Injection and exploitation.

Once we finish Port Scanning Concept, we will move toward other topics like XSS and How to use XSS Validator Burp Plugin?
