I used to think that the best way to check an audio signal was to give it a listen. After spending some time with the spectral frequency analysis tools in Adobe Audition, I am now convinced that you haven't heard your audio signal until you've seen it.

In this video we send a single piece of audio through a long and winding chain that goes something like this:

iPad -- Zoom L-20 -- Blackmagic Pocket Cinema 4K -- ATEM Mini Extreme ISO -- Mac Mini running Logic Pro X -- Computer Speaker -- Audio Cassette

As the signal travels, we learn about the different ways it degrades from device to device. By the time it gets to audio cassette, it sounds really bad (which is to be expected) and we're able to identify which bits of noise were introduced at which stages in the audio chain.
