When you tune a snare drum in a recording session or in your recording studio, you can use this one extra step in drum tuning to get the best results in your drum tuning.
I realized that I had been doing this trick each time that I tuned drums, and I never thought to share it until now. It's real simple, and I show you the "Before" and "After" in the video.
When you muffle a drum, it adds mass to the drum head, and causes the pitch of that drum to go down. The drum sounds like it is lower in pitch.
We show you how adding just a single Moongel will affect the pitch of the drum to go down.
After finding your desired amount of muffling, compensate for the affect of the muffling by tuning up the drum to raise it back up to the original pitch.
