VERBUND's high-altitude reservoirs are located in the heart of the Hohe Tauern National Park. An impressive landscape of rugged rock, clear water, and dams that have blended seamlessly into this surreal scenery over the past 70 years.
VERBUND recognized the signs of the times long ago.
In addition to generating environmentally friendly hydropower in one of Austria's largest pumped-storage power plants, the Wasserfallboden and Moserboden reservoirs are a popular tourist attraction, drawing over 100,000 visitors annually.
Of course, such impressive structures also represent an intervention in nature, but VERBUND is aware of its responsibility to the environment and future generations.
A visit to the Tauern Strom exhibition is well worth it. It's a journey into the past and the history of the power plant's development.
