In this first part of our two-part series, we demonstrate how to configure global AAA (Authentication, Authorization, and Accounting) settings on your Cisco Catalyst 1300 series switches via the Command Line Interface (CLI). With the release of firmware 4.1.7, the Catalyst 1300 now supports advanced TACACS+ features, including granular command authorization and detailed command accounting.

This video walks you through the essential CLI commands required to point your switch to a TACACS+ server—such as Cisco ISE—and establish the security policies necessary for a well-managed and audited network environment.

What You Will Learn in This Video:

-Why firmware version 4.1.7 is required for advanced TACACS+ command authorization and accounting.
-How to enable SSH and configure global AAA authentication and authorization settings.
-The steps to register your TACACS+ server host and shared secret on the switch.
-How to configure session accounting and periodic updates for enhanced visibility.
-The CLI commands to enforce privilege level 15 command authorization.
