My Samsung Galaxy S21 would not upgrade Android versions automatically. If I went into settings and clicked to check for software updates, I would get a message that showed that my phone was up to date. But it wasn't using the newly released Android version 13. It was using Android version 11. It was not up to date.

You need a USB data transfer cable like the one that comes with the phone. A USB cable that you use for charging may not have data transfer capabilities.

The solution for me involved Manually Upgrading the Android Version for Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra. Watch another video to learn how to do this using Odin and a computer. The link is at the bottom.

When dragging and dropping the firmware files into Odin, one file is 7.6 Gigabytes and it takes about 15 minutes for Odin to process that one file. There are four files total.

Once the files are dragged and dropped into Odin and you click START, Odin begins to process the files which takes about 10 minutes before they begin to download into the cell phone.

This video shows only what happens while the new firmware is being downloaded into the phone, after all the firmware files are downloaded to the phone, when the phone automatically reboots after the download is complete, and the installation process. The process for installing the new firmware takes about 10 minutes. This video speeds up the ten-minute installation process to 90 seconds. After the new firmware is installed, the phone needs another 10 minutes for the changes to populate through all the apps.

In total, the whole process takes:

1. About 7 hours to download the firmware from sammobile.com (Odin is a quick download. You also need unzip file software on your computer.)
2. About 15 minutes to drag and drop the firmware files to Odin
3. About 10 minutes for Odin to process the files after you click START
4. About 10 minutes for Odin to download the firmware files to your phone.
5. About 10 minutes for the firmware to install after being downloaded.
6. About 10 minutes for all changes to populate through your phone.

My phone used 9% of its battery charge for the entire process. But be safe and charge your phone to 100% before starting the download.
