In this Leica Academy masterclass, Penman immerses himself in Zurich’s streets, documenting life with his Leica M11-P. His process begins the moment he arrives in a new city—capturing the first impressions before they fade. Early mornings are his favorite time to shoot, transitioning through different lighting conditions from the dark hour to the golden sunrise.
Composition and storytelling play a key role in his work. He demonstrates techniques like isolating subjects, using silhouettes, and framing elements to create dynamic images. Variety is also crucial—he switches between multiple lenses (24mm, 35mm, and 75mm) to bring different perspectives to his shots.
