Here we show you how to work out the Nth term when you have a linear sequence in which the numbers are increasing in value . First we work out the difference between the values, that becomes our Nth term. Following that we must work out what would be the first number in the sequence to give us our equation. Here is an example:-

2, 5, 8, 11

1. First we work out the difference in values, which in this case is 3, therefore we have 3n
2. Second we work out what would be the first number which would be -1
3. Therefore, our equation is 3n-1
