Training time is a key bottleneck for machine learning development. To speed up training of large models, many engineering teams are adopting distributed training using scale-out clusters of accelerators. However, distributed training at scale brings its own set of challenges. As a result, there’s a demand for tools and frameworks to help scale large ML models, and take them to production in a reliable and repeatable way. In this session, we show how to run distributed training of PyTorch models on Google Cloud with Vertex AI. Along the way, we’ll also explore how to introduce MLOps practices to improve the velocity and reliability of training these models in production.
