#f4u #corsair fighter take off & landing practice from the training carrier USS Wolverine (XI) filmed by the U.S. Navy, probably on Lake Michigan, in 1945. The Wolverine was converted from a civilian side wheeler ferry that had plied the Great Lakes prior to World War 2. The Corsair's long nose which limited visibility made it difficult to land. The Royal Navy solved that problem by initiating landing approach from the starboard side of the carrier & then gradually lining up with the deck for landing.
