This video discusses a crucial aspect of using a torque wrench: proper hand positioning when tightening. Many users make a critical mistake by not monitoring their hand position on the tool. A key factor affecting the accuracy of a torque wrench's readings is the elastic deformation of its body.

A professional torque wrench is designed for a specific bending radius when applying force. This bending is virtually imperceptible on standard models. However, using a large tool with a body length of approximately 2 meters (a 1" wrench), it becomes clear that under load it bends like a bow. Holding the wrench not by the center of the handle, but closer to the center of the body, disrupts the calculated bending geometry.

This incorrect tightening technique results in the tool displaying an incorrect torque value, even if perfectly calibrated. Proper grip by the center of the handle ensures compliance with the manufacturer's specified bending and, therefore, accurate measurements.
