At $80 this is a premium piece of kit, and I was not disappointed by the build quality and functionality. For tripod use, I'd recommend a fluid head or ball head first, but if you use a monopod, or find yourself regularly switching quickly between horizontal and vertical aspect ratios, this gimbal could be the perfect accessory for you.
The arca style saddle has about 30mm of forward/back adjustability (plus you can slide the 1/4-20 mounting screw forward and backwards about the same amount). [Or you can just clip in any other arca QR plate that you might have already mounted on a lens.]
The H/V aspect ratio gimbal moves smoothly but is contained within a slot, so while you can rotate the head around the upright axis, don't expect to be able to use it like a ball head. The Gimbal has a 360 panorama swivel on the bottom which can be locked if you like rotating your monopod to rotate the camera.
The quality is great, your decision really just boils down to the price and if you need one.
