Although there is a detailed explanation of each of the sections above, I thought it would be a good idea to create an overview of each of the key steps in the website creation process here.
Step 1: Getting our hosting package and free domain name for the first year:
These days it’s essential to have a web presence, even if you’re a brick and mortar store. In this step I go step by step through the process of signing up for a hosting plan with GreenGeeks and getting a domain name.
Step 2: Installing WordPress
WordPress is the most popular content management system in the world for creating websites. I chose to make our website with it because it’s very easy to use, and there are so many helpful tutorials and web designers around the world already using it. This can really come in handy if you get stuck anywhere. However, if you follow the video you should be able to install WordPress easily and have your site up in minutes!
Step 3: Getting and installing our theme
In this step I go over details about the theme we’ll be using and then we purchase and install it. It’s always a good idea to choose a reputable theme that is used by many and has a dedicated team working to support it. Add to it the ease of use that comes with the Divi builder and there’s a lot to like. This is exactly why I chose to use the Divi theme in this tutorial.
Step 4: Editing our website content
This is probably an over-simplified step, because it is really many small steps in one. However, the second half of this how to create a website tutorial is dedicated to showing you how to edit various types of content throughout the pages of your site. I go over some simple tips and tricks that I hope makes the tutorial beginner friendly, and easy to follow along with.
