The manual states that it's a loss of refrigerant flow, which is the same as a gas leak.
In this specific video, the EC error signifies wear on the capacitor that powers the condenser fan, causing the compressor to overheat and start working at a high temperature. To prevent the compressor from burning out, it activates the thermal protection relay.
