In this video you will learn how create a new Oracle APEX form that captures and saves a timestamp six digits deep at the point in time the user submits the form for a single record. The tutorial walks developers through the use of dynamic actions on top of an APEX button that execute a SQL query to get the current timestamp when the action fires. To save the timestamp correctly we will alter the global attributes for the APEX application so the timestamp element leverages the DD-MON-YYYY HH:MI:SSXFF PM format in our application. With the global attribute set, we will add formatting to the dynamic action and transform the results into a character array that passes a timestamp validation and saves the value to a timestamp(6) column in the database.

The end solution is a modification of the app global attributes and a dynamic action to set the timestamp value leveraging the query below.
select to_char(systimestamp, 'DD-MON-YYYY HH:MI:SSXFF PM') from dual

Please note this is could be done with a database trigger as well.
