Apple is finally supporting AV1... kinda
On Apple's September 12 Wonderlust event, Apple announced several yearly updates, predictably to the iPhone and Watch. It probably came as a surprise to many that Apple finally is going to support the latest video codec, AV1 on the iPhone 15 Pro. This has broader implications for the industry as Apple remains the leader in smartphones.
However, they've been broadcasting this for some time but it remains to be seen how far Apple will with it's AV1 support.
