Singer, song writer, composer but also beat maker, Djanta is a multi-talented artist with an outstanding voice and a unique flow. Evolving between tradition and modernity, he jumps from Reggae to Dancehall with ease, and also gives his music some Hip-Hop or R’n’B flavours. Djanta also walks in the footsteps of European artists singing in English and Jamaican Patois such as Gentleman, Alborosie or Patrice.
His stage name Djanta is coming from a trip to Benin, West-Africa in 2006. "Djanta" means “lion” in an African dialect and this image perfectly fits his personality. Indeed, the lion stays calm but when he has to defend his territory, the lion stands strong and is ready to attack. Djanta’s territory is the stage and he stands ready to attack with notes and rhymes.
In 2008, he went to Kingston, Jamaica for 3 months and started to work on his first album. Immersed in Jamaican culture and going from studio to studio, he met several musicians, singers and producers who helped his artistic development and made his vision and comprehension of the music evolve. Among others, his path led him to Tuff Gong, the legendary studio of Bob Marley, and besides some memorable memories, Djanta came back with several songs. Amongst them some combinations with Lutan Fyah,
Luciano, and Fantan Mojah.
On stage, in acoustic show, in sound-system or backed by his band Zulu Movement, Djanta will make the people dance and take their spirits on a travel. Flavored with Hip-Hop, Soul, Rock or Jazz influences, reggae fans as well as the general public will enjoy an inspired and energetic show.
After Something For Da Streetz Vol. 1, a Street-Album released in September 2011, Djanta debut album CONSCIOUS ENTERTAINER, recorded between France and Jamaica, is soon to be released. After four years of work, this album mixing Reggae, Dancehall and Hip-Hop is ready to be released. There are some guest appearance with artists such as Luciano, Lutan Fyah and Fantan Mojah, and also Raging Fyah, the band who played some of the riddims. Conscious Entertainer is produced by Djanta himself and co-produced by Jamaican born Dameon ¨DX¨ Gayle from Warrior Mu-sick label.
