Building a Custom Lower Third in FCPX with Highlighter
Easier than Motion. Easier then Keynote.
This lower third build only requires three basic effects to create the background and animation. The text can be added as an effect (included with Highlighter) or as a separate Basic Title overlay (although you won't get the mask feature.)
When creating the transform, notice the positioning of the OnScreen Control which marks the "anchor point" — the point around which all transforms originate (useful with the Slant option as well as standard rotations.)
If you don't like to keyframe, there are optional add-on effects that will animate without keyframing that includes start/stop times and well as start/end offsets.
