Door check stopper/strap is what keeps or holds your door in place when it is open. This is to prevent the door from being too free, where it can close back on you.
Over time as dirt accumulates and as this wears down, it can make a squeak or croaking sound – more so in drier months where the humidly is lower. Check that the noise is coming from here first. Many confuse that the noise is coming from the 2 door hinges, which in most cases it is not.
For my door, these door stoppers are already worn to a good extent. However, I have sound dampening sheets inside the panel where it makes the door a bit heavy. So I do not have so much of an issue where the door will close back on itself.
This isn't hard to replace. You need to open the door panel and access it from inside. There will be some bolts that hold it in place.
