Data Analysis with Emacs Org Mode: Tables and AWK Source Blocks
In this video I do some simple data analysis for my lab students using org-mode in Emacs. First I construct some very simple tables, and then I write some AWK code blocks to average the data across replicates. In the next video I'm going to show how I took that data, calculated a trend line with Python and then plotted it with gnuplot.
I also tried out some video editing to trim the parts where I was fumbling around in man pages. The transitions are a bit rough (I used ffmpeg, which probably justifies its own video), but I cut out about 20 minutes. Hopefully that makes the video a bit more palatable.
