In this Unreal Engine 5 tutorial, we’ll build a hit detection system that can detect exactly what body part was hit using physics materials.

We’ll create a setup that can identify different hit regions and use that information to trigger unique gameplay reactions. For this example, we’ll create a custom headshot reaction with a unique animation, ragdoll transition, and a fun Niagara confetti explosion effect.

This setup is great for shooters, horror games, or any combat system where you want different reactions depending on where the enemy was hit.
