This video shows a molecular movie comparing dynamics on the singlet vs triplet ground states. The electron-electron spin correlation dictates the outcome of the Coulomb explosion.
Our experimental measurements of the ratio of metastable CH3OH++ and H3+ + COH+ production rates allowed determining that singlet spin is 3 orders of magnitude stronger than triplet in single-photon double ionization.
