I was told my ancestors may have been enslaved by Georgetown University, so I flew to DC and visited the university archives.
The Jesuit Priests and founders of Georgetown University enslaved and then sold over 272 people to prevent the university from going bankrupt. This included generations of my ancestors. Children were separated from their mothers, and men from their wives and shipped off to New Orleans.
