studio n. 6 from 12 STUDIES FOR HAMMOND ORGAN
Hello everybody. “12 STUDIES FOR HAMMOND ORGAN” is a collection created by myself and published a few years ago by the Japanese publishing house “Da Vinci”.
The study n. 6 that I present today has an AABA form in the key of A minor. The theme built on a turn around, then passes through an obligatory rhythmic of alterated chords. In part B it moves to the fourth degree, the melody is played in block chords and the pedal in walking bass.
Subtitled “Mr. Smith ", is an eloquent dedication to the father of all jazz organists: Jimmy Smith. The piece was recorded for the first time in 1999 in my first record work as an organist: “Con Alma” published by the German label YVP. A few years later it was again recorded on the CD "Bedouin", a record work of my father Pino Di Modugno, released by Red Records.

Ciao a tutti. “12 STUDIES FOR HAMMOND ORGAN” è una raccolta realizzata dal sottoscritto e pubblicata qualche anno fa dalla casa editrice giapponese “Da Vinci”.
Lo studio n. 6 ha una forma AABA in tonalità di la minore. Il tema costruito sul giro armonico della tonalità d’impianto, passa poi attraverso un obbligato ritmico di accordi alterati. Nella sezione B si sposta sul IV grado e la melodia viene esposta in block chords con il pedale che va in walking bass. Sottotitolato “Mr. Smith”, è un’ eloquente dedica al padre di tutti gli organisti jazz: Jimmy Smith. Il brano è stato inciso per la prima volta nel 1999 nel mio primo lavoro discografico come organista “Con Alma” pubblicato dall’etichetta tedesca YVP, e qualche anno dopo su “Bedouin”, un lavoro discografico di mio padre Pino Di Modugno, pubblicato dalla Red Records.
