We present to you another episode of "Here's the FAQs" where we find experts to answer your frequently asked questions about their field. This episode is on Google Summer of Code(GSoC), an international annual program conducted by Google.
Google summer of code is an online mentoring program which connects new open-source contributors with mentors from across the world. During the course of the program, contributors work on open-source coding projects during the summer. It aims to bring new contributors to the field and the open-source code created will be released under an open-source license for the benefit of all.
In this informative session, John George Francis, a PhD scholar at the school of physics, IISER Thiruvananthapuram, talks about the essential components of Google summer of code, things to keep in mind while applying, and some advice to the applicants.
