Hi! Sarah again with @TheHappyHootie here to give you a fun video we made on our latest RV trip through Colorado. We had heard that the Pikes Peak Highway was completely renovated (along with a new Summit Visitors Center) and wanted our kids to experience the mountains!
We had originally intended to take the "cog rail" (train up the mountain) but the time slots were all full and it was going to cost about $350 for all 5 of us to ride YIKES! We opted to purchase a pass to drive to the top of the mountain. 4 wheel drive vehicles that were "newer" and not prone to overheating used to be recommended... it is now possible to get to the top with any drivable vehicle.
We show how it is possible in our 2019 Ford Fusion 2 wheel drive. I would definitely recommend driving vs taking the Cog Rail. You can take your time. You can explore at your own pace. Enjoy the journey.
