All hell breaks loose in Matteson, Illinois! Last day in the USA. Downtown Chicago | Alex E
The last day of my USA trip in October 2023 took me back to Chicago. After a short stop at Indiana Dunes State Park on Lake Michigan, I headed to Matteson, Illinois, a suburb of Chicago. There is a junction between the east-west and north-south lines of Canadian National, with a transfer option between the two lines. This railway hotspot has the densest train service I've ever experienced in the USA.
On the way from Matteson to the airport, I was able to make a detour into the city center of this huge city.
