Pirate Pete Arcade
In Pirate Pete, the player takes on the role of a comical pirate searching for his princess, who is being held captive by a group of enemy pirates. The gameplay mechanics, level structure, and sound design are identical to another arcade game released the same year by Taito, titled Jungle Hunt.
The game consists of four levels:
The Ship: Pete must navigate along the rigging of the masts, avoiding falling onto the deck below.
The Sea: The action shifts underwater, where the player must return to shore while avoiding or attacking sharks. Diving consumes air, so Pete must surface periodically to replenish it.
The Cave: The player must reach the top by jumping over rolling boulders. During the ascent, care must also be taken to avoid snakes hanging from the ceiling.
Final Stage: Three enemy pirates are holding Pete’s wife hostage. The player must rescue her simply by reaching and touching her.
After this stage the game loops, endlessly.
