Wolf D. Prix is an Austrian architect and co-founder of the architecture firm Coop Himmelb(l)au, which is known for its avant-garde and experimental designs. Prix was born in Vienna in 1942 and studied architecture at the Vienna University of Technology. After working for several architecture firms, he co-founded Coop Himmelb(l)au with Helmut Swiczinsky in 1968. Prix has been the design principal of the firm since its inception and has led the design of many of its notable projects, including the BMW Welt in Munich, the Musée des Confluences in Lyon, and the Dalian International Conference Center in China. Prix has also been a professor of architecture at the University of Applied Arts Vienna since 1993 and has been a visiting professor at several other universities around the world. He has received numerous awards for his work, including the Austrian Decoration for Science and Art and the Grand Austrian State Prize for Architecture.
