Why Businesses Ran Windows 98 on NT Domains
Windows 98 was, without a doubt, the most popular operating system I had to support in small businesses in 1998-99. Windows 98 came bundled with a new OEM computer or laptop, making it extremely popular. Clients didn't want to pay the cost of an additional Windows NT Workstation license.
It was my job to ensure they could run their business on this operating system, which Microsoft designed as a consumer OS.
In this video, I'll take you through some classic configuration issues, what you can do with the log-in script, how file and print sharing were different to NT, and why having no file security means zero privacy.
And finally, a breakdown of the authentication process from Windows 98 to NC Server using Wireshark.
