Apple has Made iPhones Spyware Proof with MIE Security Upgrade
Apple is raising the bar for iPhone security with Memory Integrity Enforcement (MIE), debuting on the iPhone 17 and iPhone Air.
MIE blocks one of spyware’s biggest weapons: memory corruption exploits. It tags memory with secret identifiers, only allowing trusted code to access it. Any unauthorized attempt instantly crashes the process and logs the action.
By default, MIE protects the kernel and dozens of background processes—making popular spyware tools like Cellebrite and GrayKey far less effective.
It’s not flawless, and older devices won’t get full coverage, but this is one of Apple’s strongest moves yet in the fight against spyware.
