Three Ways To Speed Paint Salamanders
Speed Painting Salamanders using a few methods.
Firstly, straight up contrast paints applied with the brush.
Secondly, the same contrast paints applied through an airbrush.
Lastly "normal" paints applied with the airbrush.
Long and the short of it is, I can't get a decent smooth coat of contrast paint if I try to put it on with a brush. I'm sure I could do better if i took my time, but I want to get a Salamanders Army painted quickly, mainly cos i've a load of other stuff to do.
However, if you thin the contrast paints with the contrast medium and apply that to a properly zenithaled base coat it work like a charm. So good in fact that it's my new go-to colour scheme for my army.
The normal paints work great but they are much more opaque than the contrast paints so you lose most of the effect of the zenithal base. To counter act this, the model would need a shade of some sort, probably in a precise pin wash, which is slow (looks good when done tho).
I tried orange shoulder pads as well, just for the lulz.
