In part five of his LiveWorx #keynote, PTC CEO Jim Heppelmann discusses how a model-based #digitalthread drives efficiencies by connecting the digital world to the physical world, and back again, to follow the lifecycle of a product.
It starts in the digital world with requirements, planning, and system engineering, which leads to engineering, design, simulation, validation of the product concept, and ultimately, to the manufacturing process that converts the digital concept into a physical product. Finally, the end customer takes delivery and operates that product in the physical world.
Meanwhile, the manufacturer monitors the product to ensure that its full value is being delivered and that they can provide efficient service and support whenever it's not. This closed-loop feedback then informs problem reports and engineering change orders that lead to faster improvements in the product design and manufacturing processes.
