How to get web map json data into QGIS
Sometimes you'll be able to see data on a map online, but you may instead want to work with it directly in QGIS. If the data publisher has created the web map using the json format then you can often get it into QGIS with just a few clicks, if you know where to look. In this example we'll look at how to get location data from parkrun into QGIS.
What the heck is a json file? It's just a text file containing lots of information, and in our case this includes coordinate location data for parkrun events across the world. You can open a json file in any text editor on your computer and you'll see for yourself.
