I had wanted to do this earlier last week sometime after Passover and before Good Friday. Just didn't find the time.
This is one of those songs that has helped my in my journey of life. It speaks of the magnitude of God's amazing love, so deep that He would die for me. When I first listened to this song, I was trying to comprehend what in the world have I ever done to deserve His love and sacrifice? Absolutely nothing and everything that I'm not supposed to do.
I've done this song with a full band a few times in church worship and thought I'd do this one the mighty ukulele. This morning before going to work, I decided to do this together with Mikaela (that's "My Kala"). I've not been singing with her for a while now since I had that cheap black soprano lying around, but this song holds some special meaning and thought doing it with Mikaela would be a nice change.
Here is the words to the song:
Above all powers, above all kings
Above all nature and all created things
Above all wisdom and all the ways of man
You were here before the world began
Above all kingdoms, above all thrones
Above all wonders the world has ever known
Above all wealth and treasures of the earth
There's no way to measure what you're worth
Crucified, laid behind a stone
You lived to die rejected and alone
Like a rose trampled on the ground
You took the fall and thought of me
Above all
DISCLAIMER: I like singing this song but it is not my song. Paul Baloche and Lenny Leblanc own it. They write songs with beautiful music and powerful lyrics that captivates the heart. Please do check them out.
p/s Gosh! Just realised I didn't comb my hair. Got out of bed, took a shower and did this song before going to work. It's quiet when the children are still in bed sleeping.
NOTE UPDATE: I've recently done a Chinese version of this cover and it can be found here
