DOGS need to learn this!
The "watch" command or some people like to use the "watch me" commend is just so important to teach your dog or dogs to focus on you and not what is going on around them. This is a new command Marvin is learning and he gets the watch and make eye contact but we are working on him holding the eye contact.
Its amazing but I realized as he is learning this new command, it's building his confidence and he is paying closer attention to what I am doing and looking to me more for guidance. This takes the stress off of him of trying to control situations.
I highly recommend teaching your pooch this command. While teaching them it's all about timing. You must react quickly once they make that eye contact with a treat and a word that lets them know they are doing what you want, I say YES! Once they understand you want them to make eye contact it can be a little tricky (as you can see in the video with Marvin) to get them to hold the eye contact but you will also be amazed at how quickly they will pick it up.
I believe this is one of the most rewarding things you can teach your pooch.
