In this math video we will discuss pay raise & percent of increase. We will be presented with an employee's hourly wage for their first year of employment. We will also be given the percent of increase or raise for the second year. We will review how to write percent of a number using words and how to translate the words into a mathematical expression. We will review that percent must be written as a decimal or a fraction in a mathematical expression. We will convert a percent to a decimal. We will discuss that "of" indicates multiplication. We will learn how to use a calculator to compute our answers. We will find the percent of increase per hour and we will use this answer to compute the increase per week using information in the problem. An exemplar solution is modeled and explained.
