It's literally just better.
Timestamps:
0:00 - Showing how normal playback works - to play back from where you were, you need to set an IN point and THEN playback from there.
0:30 - THE FIX.
1:55 - Showcase of how improved playback works - I'm just tapping Spacebar.
Written instruction:
Go to preferences, then playback. Set pre-roll to 0.
Set post-roll to something comfortable. I did 15 seconds, but rarely will ever let playback go for that long.
Go to edit your keybindings.
Change 'Play around' from Shift + K to spacebar.
Rebind 'Play' and 'Play Stop toggle' to anything else (I just rebound it to Shift + K since that is now free).
Enjoy playback the way it should be!
I posted the above as a youtube comment on another video but I think having this video be searchable is going to be more beneficial to people.

For real, who edits, plays a piece back, pauses, and then just keeps playing? Instead of going back to fix/change something?
Well, that's what In & Out points are for, you say. And I say why would you make every useful playback take so many extra keystrokes when you can just TAP YOUR SPACEBAR.
