I am opening a series of short workshops to develop more complex and comprehensive thinking. The topic of the first workshop is an assessment of the Ottoman Empire. What was it: a space of tolerance or a cruel repressive system? On the one hand, there were the Janissaries and Armenian pogroms. On the other hand, there were attempts to create a genuine federation, constitutional reforms, and a course towards Europeanization. The main witness of the first workshop is the Patriarch of Constantinople Athenagoras.
