Timur Shemsedinov recently suggested that modern frontend frameworks are no longer necessary. And indeed, browsers today can do much more than they could 10 years ago.
But what would happen if React, Vue, Angular, Svelte, and any other framework were taken away from you right now?
In this video, we'll try a thought experiment and build a modern SPA application in pure JavaScript. We'll discuss routing, reactivity, components, DOM updates, batching, and other tasks that arise in virtually any interface.
We'll also explore why frameworks emerged in the first place, what problem they actually solve, and how a collection of a dozen separate libraries differs from a full-fledged framework.
