Griboedov Waltz in E Minor - Relaxing Classical Piano Melody

Hello everyone!
Let me briefly tell you about this wonderful waltz, its composer, and my personal story connected with this piece.

This is a very well-known waltz. It is interesting to note that Alexander Griboedov did not graduate from a conservatory - by education he was a diplomat. However, as a nobleman, he received an excellent home education and had a deep understanding of music. As you can hear, he composed truly brilliant works. This is a great reminder that amateur pianists can sometimes be incredibly impressive. I know this well from my own experience. I have many online students who are amateur pianists, and all of them are exceptionally talented and gifted people.

I first heard about this waltz in my childhood. Many people used to say: “Just a diplomat and such beautiful music!”
But I truly immersed myself in this piece much later, when I was around 30 years old. As often happens, it was played by one of my amateur students. That performance sparked my serious interest in the piece, and I decided to create my own edition with comfortable fingering, pedal markings, and other performance indications.

I would like to emphasize that some of my dynamic markings serve more as interpretive suggestions rather than strict performance rules. For example, in the final bar you can see a crescendo wedge/ It represents an inner, expressive crescendo. As we know, it is physically impossible to increase the sound on the piano once the keys are already pressed, but such a marking can still unify and shape the musical phrase. I consider this a rather interesting interpretive idea of my own.
However, as you may notice in the video, I did not apply this crescendo in this particular performance.

I wish you all a very enjoyable musical experience.
