Do you want to be at the top of your target audience's minds? Do you want to increase your online course conversion rate? Do you want to create content that sells like wildfire?

Well, no matter what your end goals are, in order to achieve them, you need to focus on just one basic yet most powerful thing, i.e., your content.

Hey, I’m Emily from Graphy, and in this video, I’ll be talking about how you can do content research for your online courses. So, without wasting any more time, let’s get started!

To get started, answer the following questions:

How well do you understand your target audience?
How many competitors do you have? What is their USP?
How much effort are you willing to put in when it comes to research?
How fast are you when it comes to adapting to the changes happening within your industry?

In short, when it comes to content creation, research is one of the most important things that can help you to level up your game (creativity being the second). Hence, do as much research as you can to become better at content creation.

Let’s figure out the steps of how you can do the content research for your online courses.

#Step1: Understand your target audience

Understanding your target audience is the first thing you need to do before beginning content research. Start building out your buyer persona and figure out who your ideal customer is.

Doing this can paint a clear picture of your audience, who they are, their pain points, and how you can tailor your digital product, and content to them. Without this, you are just spending time creating content that may or may not attract your potential learners.

#Step2: Analyze what your target audience shares on social media

Once you know who your target audience is, it is important for you to analyze what content they are sharing and engaging with on social media. While you may generate some great content ideas, this can help you to find the most effective ones.

Apart from this, you will also learn about the people they are following. This will further help you in competitive analysis.

#Step3: Keep a close eye on your competitors

After analyzing what your target audience shares on their social media profiles, try to figure out the same about your competitors. Since you would not want to copy the exact content that they are posting, take ideas from them and create fresh content for your online institute’s social media profiles.

Apart from this, when it comes to course creation, check the topics and the sub-topics that they have included in their online course.

You can do this by visiting their course website. Check out the table of content of their online course. This will give you a fair idea of all the topics and sub-topics that you can add to your online course.

#Step4: Research around questions related to your niche

One of the most important things that you need to do while conducting content research is to search for relevant and popular questions around your topic. This will help you to get some great insights regarding your niche.

You can do this by joining Facebook groups, LinkedIn groups, etc. that are created around your topic. See, these groups consist of people from all around the world. Hence, you can get the opinion of the masses. However, the quality of the opinion depends on the quality of the members that are a part of that group.

Apart from this, you could also search for questions on platforms like Quora. It is one of the best tools when it comes to doing research. By going through the Q&As related to your course topic, you will be able to gather some excellent content ideas.

But, here we have a piece of advice for you: don’t just search for Q&As on these platforms, instead try to become an active participant. Because the more you ask, the better your search results.

We understand that creating content is not easy.

But if you are willing to pay attention to the small details like what the pain points are of your target audience, what your competitors are doing, etc., you can definitely come up with some great content ideas.

Hence, without thinking much, put your first step into the boat of content creation and begin your journey as a course creator.
