Back 2 Back - Vatnajokull 2023
Berghaus ambassador Ed Jackson, along with pals and fellow spinal cord injury survivors Darren Edwards and Niall McCann will embark on a ground-breaking expedition as they attempt to become the first ever fully disabled team to embark across Vatnajokull, the largest ice cap in Western Europe.
Over the course of 2 weeks, the team of 3 will ski, drag and push themselves across 150 km of ice, battling temperatures as low as -25c and wind speeds upwards of 100 kmh. This is a savage environment for anyone and the team has the added complications associated with their spinal cord injuries. It will be no easy feat, but they have spent the past months training with the best in the industry to ensure they are ready for this monumental undertaking.
The aim? To raise money for Millimetres 2 Mountains, a charity that provides support to others recovering from trauma. The team hopes that this mission will show that a terrible diagnosis does not necessarily mean a terrible prognosis and that anyone can go on to achieve incredible things within the realms of a body that isn't quite as able as before whilst hopefully changing a few preconceptions about disability in the process.
