7 Common Dream Meanings
Everyone dreams, and everyone interprets their dream differently. And lots of people believe dreams have a deeper meaning. But there are some dreams common to many people and these dreams have a common meaning.
Dreams about falling
Dreaming about falling from a great height is fairly common, so what exactly does it mean? According to some studies, falling dreams are a sign that something in your life isn't going well. It might suggest that you need to rethink a choice or consider a new direction in some area of your life.
"Dreaming of falling is very common. It is a symbol of fear in real life - perhaps of failing at work or in your love life," claims Russell Grant, author of The Illustrated Dream Dictionary. "Falling often expresses a need to let yourself go more and enjoy life more."
2. Dreams about being naked in public
Some people dream of showing up at school or the office in their birthday suit, and this is hardly unusual. Penny Peirce, author of the Dream Dictionary for Dummies, suggests that dreaming of public nudity might indicate that you feel like a phony or that you are afraid of revealing your imperfections and shortcomings.
3. Dreams of flying
Dreaming of flying can mean ambition and self -actualization. It can mean you have found your path, where you want to go and what you plan to do with your life. Also, they can be exciting and even liberating but they can sometimes be quite frightening (especially for those afraid of heights).
4. Dreams of being back at school
Who hasn’t had a dream about being back in high school or a nightmare about being unprepared for an important exam? A dream where you’re unable to find your classroom likely represents a sense of missing out or being unprepared. Hate the class? That could mean you aren’t satisfied with your career in real life.
5. Dreams about pregnancy
This could mean or represent everything from creativity to fear. Author Tony Crisp suggests that such dreams indicate that the dreamer is developing some area of potential or deepening a relationship. Dream interpreter Russell Grant writes that these dreams presage difficult times.
6. Dreams about infidelity
It can be really distressing dreaming of your partner cheating, and oftentimes people fear if the dream will come true. So, does dreaming that your partner is unfaithful mean that it might happen? Or that it is already happening? Trish and Rob MacGregor, the author's of the Complete Dream Dictionary: A Bedside Guide to Knowing What Your Dreams Mean, believe that such dreams probably doesn't mean that your spouse is cheating or will cheat.
7. Dreams of losing someone
Losing a person is a classic anxiety dream that may symbolize resistance to change. A dream about losing track of a child in a store or park is common, especially when the child reaches a milestone. A dream about losing your hair suggests that you’re out of ideas about what to do about someone or something.
