I Always Thought I Am Inferior To Others, Ft. Rajesh V, IIFT Delhi
Like most kids in the Indian Education System, Rajesh too was stuck in the stressful cycle of school, tuition and prep. His IIT JEE classes took a toll on him, and he wasn't able to enjoy his childhood like most 8th grade students do. This burden that fell on his shoulders made him highly competitive and easily irritable. As he moved onto junior college, even his parents asked him to relax, but he had become so used to the stress that he couldn't slow down. When all his friends moved on, getting into top colleges, he felt a sudden hit of inferiority because he had to settle for a tier 2 college. He started becoming less enthusiastic, slowly falling into depression. We have Rajesh Velpandian today in our next episode of Real Steel series, powered by Tata Steel.

During his engineering days, he started working on his soft skills. Being an introvert, he found it difficult to talk to people, but he grew with the help of Toastmasters, an international organization that helps students from diverse backgrounds develop public speaking, leadership and communication skills. He has spent his time honing his skills and got out of depression by indulging in various activities like trekking, swimming, debates, etc. Rajesh is currently pursuing an MBA in International Business from IIFT Delhi, one of the premier institutes in the country.
It isn't easy to identify depression, nor is it easy to fight it. It takes courage to identify what is amiss and requires a real determination to work towards improving yourself.
Tata Steel salutes Rajesh's courage and determination in fighting his depression and coming out with flying colours.
