Adverum Biotechnologies is a publicly traded (NASDAQ:ADVM) biotechnology company in the NASDAQ Biotechnology Index that is focused on diseases of the eye. This includes macular degeneration, retinal vein occlusion, diabetic macular edema, and others. The company's only drug in clinical trials, AVA-101, designed to treat macular degeneration, had poor results after initial clinical trials in 2015. In 2016 Avalanche Biotechnologies merged with Annapurna Therapeutics to form Advertum Biotechnologies, Inc.
