What makes a perfect ballet appearance?
1. A high instep – a foot that completes the line and creates the effect of lengthening the legs. For 1,000 rubles, you can even officially get a false instep – for example, at Grishko.
2. Dysplasia, or hyperflexibility of the joints. It might seem like a strange requirement, but X-shaped legs, that is, legs that form an X in the first/second position, are also good for lines.
3. Long limbs: asthenically elongated limbs are proportions that will look harmonious on stage. They even calculate a "leg length index."
4. A long neck with sloping shoulders: a flexible neck also creates a silhouette and expressive lines.
5. A small head: It sounds rather absurd, but a large face and expressive features that would look beautiful in film can weigh down the proportions on stage.
Of course, there are exceptions to every point, and success will depend on a combination of factors, but these criteria are considered the gold standard of ballet appearance.
