Life-Saving equipment on cargo ships includes: Life Jackets, Survival Suits, Life Buoys, Life Rafts, Life Boats, Rescue Boat, Pyrotechnics, SARTs (Search and Rescue Transponders), SCTs (Search and Rescue Transceivers), and EPIRBS (Emergency Position Indicating Radio Beacons). Container ships and other cargo ships will all have some form of this equipment onboard, and it will be regularly inspected and maintained by the Safety Officer.
