Jazzercise is a full-length aerobic dance workout hosted by Judy Shepherd Misset, founder of the Jazzercise program, filmed at her Jazzercise Studio with five guest instructors: Colleen from Omaha, Natasha from Denver, Mark from Toledo, Claudia from Austin, and Linda from Chicago. Linda demonstrates a lighter-intensity modification throughout the workout for viewers who need a lower-impact option. The program opens with an extended introduction covering the Jazzercise philosophy, footwear and space requirements, the perceived exertion chart and its three color-coded zones, and the target heart rate formula, with pulse checks performed twice during the aerobic segment.

The workout proceeds through a warm-up section with jazz dance-based movement and body alignment instruction, an aerobic segment set to choreographed jazz dance routines, an aerobic cool-down with stretching, a toning section covering gluteals, hamstrings, upper back and chest, and abdominals, and a final cool-down and flexibility routine. The tape closes with a Stouffer's Lean Cuisine advertisement featuring Judy Shepherd Misset.
